A Special Message to India SEO Companies

A word or should I say words for all the India based SEO companies out there. I know there are some of you that are more than capable of doing good quality SEO. After all, SEO really isn't that hard. Especially when we're talking about on page SEO, off page SEO and optimizing your website for different devices and improving page load speed.

I do see some flaws in your marketing efforts. One, you send an email talking about things that may not even be wrong with the person’s website you're attempting to market to. Two, you automatically assume by speaking as though you know more about SEO than the person you're emailing. In a lot of instances this may be correct but it's not the case when you email me.

Three, you should stop assuming that every website you come across is not mobile friendly and actually fully research a website before sending your email. Declaring a website not mobile friendly when it actually is makes you look like a huge asshole!

Four, please stop talking about coding errors and duplicate content.

Duplicate content seems to be an Indian SEOs wet dream as just about everyone I've ever talked to has spoken about duplicate content. Duplicate content is only duplicate content if it's on the same website and in some cases eighty percent duplicate on the same domain does not prevent a website from ranking.

The truth about coding errors is, if a website’s on page SEO is on point or good and you have a strong back link profile then your website will rank, regardless of coding errors. The truth about HTML is that there are many versions of it dating back to the nineties. While it may be best practice to use the latest and greatest, or most recent HTML code, it is by NO means mandatory in order to rank in the search engines.

If using strict HTML code was an important ranking factor then we would not be using periods, hyphens, apostrophes and quotation marks within the content of our websites. We would be forced to use the HTML equivalent of a period, apostrophe, quotation marks etc.

In short, please stop acting like you are smarter than every person you email in America! Not every webmaster is an idiot and just because a website is not ranking on the first page of Google does NOT mean you possess the knowledge to get every website to the top organic spot in Google!

Please also stop trying to guarantee results as a way of making sales. No one and I mean NO one can guarantee rankings in Google! Instead guarantee ranking improvements. It’s much more believable!

Let’s say for argument's sake that you can guarantee first page results. My next question would be for how long can you guarantee those results and how long will it take to get there. I know there are churn and burn strategies in most niches but that doesn't do any business owner justice who is unaware of such things.

I’m going to wrap this up by saying thank you to all of you who have done your part to give SEOs a bad name! God bless and happy prospect hunting.
